Linking Relief, Rehabilitation and Development

Under DMI, a flexible disbursement grant system will be set up with locally-based implementing agencies receiving funds from the European Commission Humanitarian Operations (ECHO).

Implementing activities linked to previous ECHO-funded emergency interventions will ensure the activities are developed into longer-term interventions or successful and sustainable exit strategies.

The LRRD activities funded under the system will ensure a smooth transition from emergency to recovery phase, including disaster prevention and preparedness mechanisms. Special attention will be paid to prevention and preparedness activities.

The access to these funds will ensure a constant source of funding for activities, which will be critical in ensuring a smooth transition to LRRD activities from any previous interventions. The LRRD activities will also complement the DCF/NDCF and the district contingency plans, especially during the transitional consolidation period of the NDCF.

This activity is managed by the EU Delegation in Nairobi.
